Paris Community Hospital Joins Wabash Valley Rural Telehealth Network

PCH FMC color vertical smallUnion Hospital's Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health, a nationally recognized leader in the development of telemedicine services, has partnered with Paris Community Hospital and UAP Clinic Cardiology to begin offering advanced cardiology services via telemedicine. Through this partnership, patients seeking care and treatment at Paris Community Hospital for a variety of heart-related conditions can now be evaluated and treated by Dr. Namburi, a UAP Clinic cardiologist remotely.

The technology, which operates through Union Hospital's secure and confidential telemedicine network, will allow Dr. Namburi to hear a patient's heart and breath sounds, as well as communicate in real-time with the patient at their bedside in Paris.
The project was made possible by a generous grant award made to Union Hospital's Richard G. Lugar Center of Health from the Health Resources Services Administration's (HRSA) Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (Grant # H2ARH20178) to help patients overcome the barriers associated with seeing specialists outside of their rural communities.

"We are excited to be able to bring specialty care directly to our patients without time consuming and costly transport out of town and away from their family" said Randy Simmons, Paris Community Hospital's CEO. "This is just one more way that demonstrates that Paris Community Hospital is dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality care available".
